Because You Left and The Lie
Jeez, that was an exhausting night! Your Loyal Lost Loser is not used to being up so late!
I watched the recap, but I think that was for newbies to the show, don’t you? One thing I noticed that they focused on a lot was the contact between Sun and Charles Widmore. So, keep your eye on these two; I certainly did during the premiere.
I don’t know about you, but I thought that these two episodes served more as set-up than they did to reveal much. However, I made a few discoveries and have a few predictions to share.
1. The episode opens at 8:14 a.m. with everyone’s favorite Orientation Film star – Marvin Candle (whose real name is revealed to be Dr. Pierre Chang). His wife wakes him to get the baby (yay for making the dad get up with the kid!). Here’s my theory – MILES IS THE SON OF DR. CHANG! More on that later . . .
2. Dr. Chang (could it be Dr. Change?) confirms that the Orchid hatch is built on top of a limitless source of energy that will allow them to manipulate time. This is further confirmed by the fact that my boy Daniel shows up.
3. Who has asked for a blood test for Aaron? Charles Widmore? Ben? Sun? Jeremy Latham (aka Locke)?
4. Sun is detained at the airport by Charles Widmore, who demands her respect. She agrees that that is “fair enough.” Do you think she is really planning to work with him or do you think that she is playing him to destroy him? Does she blame him for Jin’s death?
5. Or does she blame Kate? We know she blames her father, and she claims to CW that she blames Ben, but I think she really blames Kate for forcing her to get on the helicopter and not getting Jin in time. I know she says she doesn’t blame Kate, but the Sweet Sun has been known to lie before!
6. BACK ON THE ISLAND:
· A white light (much like that after the hatch blew) occurs and the island (or the Losties) move.
· According to Daniel, they have moved to the past.
· Another white light flashes; they move forward. To where, we’re not sure . . . but I believe they have moved to the present (2008), the same time as the O6. Why? Because Charlotte is really DEAD!
· While in the past, Daniel visits Desmond in the hatch, although he had told Sawyer not to. Daniel says the rules don’t apply to Des, and Daniel implores him to go to Oxford and find Dan’s mom (who is that? Did you get it?)
· Vincent is back! Yay!
· Richard tells Locke, “I didn’t go anywhere; you did.”
· Why the focus on Eko’s brother’s plane and the crash?
7. THIS WEEK IN BIBLE STUDIES: We return to the Virgin Mary. Once again, we see the statues used to smuggle drugs. We’ve seen references to the Virgin Mary many times – Charlie had a whole episode where he hallucinated Claire as the Virgin Mary.
Something interesting I found on Wikipedia (those with better knowledge of the Catholic faith, please correct anything):
According to the apocryphal Gospel of James she was the daughter of Joachim and Anna. Before Mary's conception, Anna had been barren, and her parents were quite old when she was conceived. They gave her to service as a consecrated virgin in the Temple in Jerusalem when she was three years old, much like Hannah took Samuel to the Tabernacle as recorded in the Old Testament (Tanakh, Hebrew Bible).
Could it be a connection to the infertility on the island? Could Claire be the Mary of this island since Aaron was born and she survived? Still working on this one . . .
8. Why was Sawyer so desperate for a shirt? Was he afraid of distracting Juliet with his loveliness?
9. How about that killer dishwasher?
10. Best line of the night: “If you ate more comfort food, you wouldn’t have to go around shooting people.” Hurley to Sayid
11. Runner up for best line: Sawyer --“Welcome back, Dr. Wizard.”
Miles – “I believe it’s Mr. Wizard.”
12. BIG NEW THEORY: Both Miles and Charlotte were born on the island. It was after their births that the island started killing mothers. But why?
13. Questions and issues to consider this season:
Where did Kate get all her money?
Who wants to expose Aaron’s maternity? (I think it is Sun, but you may disagree)
Hurley did not want to lie! He feels betrayed by the other O6. So the question is, will he trust them?
Who the hell is Neil?
Why are Ana Lucia and Libby haunting/helping Hurley? Why these two and not Boone and Shannon or Eko?
14. Do you know who Daniel’s mother is? That’s right, it’s the lady from Desmond’s episode last season who gave him hints and guidance about what to do.
I don’t want to end without giving a shout out to my favorite dentist and his wife, Rose and Bernard! Go on with your bad selves!

Woo Hoo!
One week to go until the season premiere!
Some questions to ponder and to refresh your memory from last season:
--Why do all the promotional posters merge visions of the island with visions of a big city?
-How did Locke get off the island? (Clearly, as the new “Ben,” Richard probably taught him how to “travel.”)
-Does Locke recognize Richard from earlier in his life?

There's No Place Like Home Parts 2 and 3
Click your heels three times, and say, “There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home, there’s no place like home.” And then realize that being home will SUCK if you are one of the Oceanic 6.
That was a pretty intense episode, and yes, we finally got some answers. I almost cried (almost because my husband would have rolled his eyes at me if I had) twice. Let’s discuss what happened:
1. The episode picks up where last season ended, with Jack and Kate meet outside the airport and he tries to convince her that they “need to go back.” Jack still has the horrible beard (which I would describe in detail if it didn’t remind me of something very disgusting). They discuss the obituary and reveal that it was “Jeremy Bentham.” Did you fall for that red herring? I almost did, but I thought it would be too obvious if Ben were to go by Bentham.
2. It has been 3 years since they left the island.
3. Holy Walt! Clearly there was no way they could have Walt appear on the island again as he looks about 20 now. When he visits Hurley, he says he expected the O6 to visit him but they never did, except for Bentham. Hurley said he did it to protect the people still on the island.
4. Top Sawyer nickname for the night: “Kenny Rogers”
5. On the beach – Juliet keeps her word (unlike someone else who likes to play martyr) that she will make sure everyone gets off the island . . . only to be left with a bottle of Dharma Scotch and a half naked, glistening Sawyer.
6. Best zinger of the night goes to Rose – “Who told you you could eat those peanuts?” Miles – “May I eat these peanuts?” Rose – “You’re very dire.”
7. Miles wants to stay on the island. Why? He also reveals that Charlotte should want to stay after she has “spent so much time trying to get back here.” Charlotte reveals to puppy-love Daniel that she’s still trying to find “where she was born.”
8. Does anyone else find Keamy strangely sexy in a villainous-evil way?
9. THIS WEEK IN LOST LITERATURE: Though it was not overt, the explosion of the freighter was definitely parallel with The Stand, which the writers have cited as one of their favorite books.
10. IF YOU WEREN’T TEARY, YOU HAVE NO SOUL MOMENT: When Jin comes out of the freighter door just in time to see the helicopter fly away . . . and then was blown to bits. Poor Sun – she was quite a convincing screamer.
11. Kate makes a deal with the Others to save Ben in exchange for passage off the island. I was wondering why in the hell Kate would help Ben.
12. So here is my biggest question – AFTER ALL HIS MARTYR-LIKE TALK, HOW COULD JACK JUST GET ON THE HELICOPTER AND LEAVE? That explains his future-self mantra, “We need to go back!” He totally abandoned all those people.
13. Orchid Station –
-- Dr. Edward Halifax (aka Dr. Marvin Candle) explains on the video that they are experimenting w/ space and time.
-- The pod is not “the magic box,” according to Ben. But it does seem to be under that pod somewhere.
-- The tape malfunctions before Locke can see what happened to 15.
14. MOST HEROIC MOMENT OF THE NIGHT: Sawyer jumps from the copter. What do you think he whispered to Kate? I still think it is to find his daughter. We see all his paternal instincts with Aaron. His arrival at the beach also wins him the SEXIEST MOMENT OF THE NIGHT.
15. Is Michael dead? Christian (who I still argue is God) tells him, “You can go now.” I think he means from this world.
16. Sun blames two men for her husband’s death – her father and JACK. What does she want from Widmore? And when she says, “We’re not the only ones who left the island” is she referring to Desmond? Is she going to help Widmore find him? Or Ben? Or “Jeremy”?
17. THIS WEEK IN BIBLE STUDIES: Ok, folks, this is key. Jeremiah:
According to the book, the Prophet Jeremiah was a son of a priest from Anatot in the land of Benjamin, who lived in the last years of the Kingdom of Judah just prior to, during, and immediately after the siege of Jerusalem, culminating in the destruction of Solomon's Temple and the raiding of the city by Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. According to the book, for a quarter century prior to the destruction, Jeremiah repeatedly issued prophecies predicting God's forthcoming judgment; advocating the Jews put down their idols and repent in hopes of turning away God's judgment and fulfilling their destiny as his chosen people. His efforts failed and he witnessed the destruction of everything he knew, the exile of the Jewish elite to Babylonia, and the fleeing of the remainder to Egypt.

18. YOU ARE ALSO WITHOUT A SOUL IF YOU WEREN’T MOVED BY: Penny and Desmond’s reunion. Do you really think they got their happy ending?
19. KEY QUESTION OF THE NIGHT: How in the world does a baby survive all that little Aaron was put through? Could it be he is the grandson of God? Hmmmm . . .
20. So what do you think about the Time Loop Theory now? The writers were tricky with the whole thing . . . first the video kind of confirmed it, then Ben debunked it, but then Ben moved the island.
21. Speaking of moving the island . . . isn’t that the noise we’ve been hearing since episode one? Is it possible the island has moved before during the Losties’ stay?
22. Hugo plays checkers with Eko. Apparently they couldn’t convince the actor to make a “ghost” appearance.
23. Claire tells Kate not to dare take Aaron back to that place.
24. HOLY CRAP MOMENT: Ben enters the funeral parlor, confirming that it is not he who is dead. They discuss Jack’s encounter w/ Bentham, in which Bentham blamed Jack for “some very bad things that happened on the island” after they left. Ben tells Jack that they all need to go if they want to get back to the island including the body of . . . LOCKE!

There's No Place Like Home
The season is winding down. Only two more hours of Lost this season, and there’s no episode next week. So make the most of this edition of Ramblings . . .
1. Copter Parents:
· The Oceanic 6 arrive in Honolulu. They agree to meet with the press.
· The story is that the plane crashed in the ocean, they survived on “floatation devices,” got to an island, Membata.
· Membata means “doubt”
· Poor old Kate (gag) had no one waiting for her. Boo frickin hoo.
· Sayid also thought no one was waiting for him . . . but along came Nadia. YAY!
2. Strangest detail of the Oceanic 6 – Kate tells reporters that Aaron is just over 5 weeks old. That means that either they have traveled back in time or Aaron is not Aaron. I would say it is time travel . . .
3. El Donk told me about the time loop theory a while ago, but I just had to time to check it out. There’s a long, very detailed theory on the web, some of which makes a lot of sense, some of which I disagree. Here’s the gist of it:
a. The Island has mysterious magnet force, which was discovered by Alvar Hanso and the crew of the Black Rock. This spurred the creation of the Dharma Initiative.
b. The Dharma Initiative created a time machine.
c. Ben’s mother was a part of the initial group (I don’t agree with this theory). She got fed up with the group, seeing that it wasn’t providing anything useful to society, traveled back in time and had Ben. The cost of this was her life. (This doesn’t jive if Ben and Locke are indeed brothers).
d. The DI experimented initially with animals – that explains why the Polar Bears are in different places around the world and at different times.
e. Richard and Jacob were a part of the initial group, but when DI decided that time travel was a bad idea, they split off and formed The Others. Dick recruited Ben because he knew about his mom.
f. When they travel back in time, they do not change age. However, anything that happened in the “future” to their bodies does not apply. This is why Locke and Rose are cured. It would also explain why they cannot die.
g. Fate will not allow any major changes to the course of time . . . this is why the women can’t have babies. If they somehow do, the price is their lives.
4. I think it is a combo of Sci-Fi Time Travel Story and a big ole Allegory.
5. The Hurley-Burley – Hugo immediately tells everyone that he does not want his money or anything bought with the money. He believes this will keep him safe. Too bad the speedometer of the reconstructed car doesn’t agree.
6. This week in Lost Literature: We revisit the Wizard of Oz; “There’s No Place Like Home.” This, of course, fits with the whole time travel/alternate reality idea.
7. Sawyer had some zingers last night; it was nice to see James back in the game. “Genghis” – Miles. “You don’t get to die alone.” – Jack.
8. EXPLOSIVES: Do you think Jin is going to be blown to bits? How is Sun going to get off that freighter with Aaron? Does this mean my Des is going to die? He better not! What about Michael? Does the whole not dying thing mean that if he explodes he will somehow regenerate? That would be cool. Who rigged up the boat to explode? Was it Michael?
9. THIS WEEK IN BIBLE STUDIES: Not too much this week – but an interesting biblical fact – Aaron was 123 when he died. 1-23.
10. BADASS OF THE WEEK: Sun for putting the smackdown on Daddy. She says, “Two people are responsible for my husband’s death, and you are one of them.” Who was the other?
11. THE I-CALLED-IT AWARD: Goes to Your Loyal Lost Loser. I said Jack knows that Aaron is his nephew. Do you think Ms. Littleton knows that Aaron is her grandson?
12. Ben’s best line: “John, I told you, I always have a plan.” Runner up: “That’s a 15 year old cracker.”
13. One of the gunmen w/ Keamy is Ishmael, who Ben told Sayid had killed Nadia.
14. BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT: “JESUS IS NOT A WEAPON” HA!
15. Who does Ben communicate with via reflection? Was it Richard? Is that why he surrounds Jack and Sawyer in the jungle? Where did all these Others come from? Could it be the future?
I stayed up way past my bedtime last night just for you, so I’m sure I a missing some stuff. Don’t hide in the jungle!

e. Richard and Jacob were a part of the initial group, but when DI decided that time travel was a bad idea, they split off and formed The Others. Dick recruited Ben because he knew about his mom.
f. When they travel back in time, they do not change age. However, anything that happened in the “future” to their bodies does not apply. This is why Locke and Rose are cured. It would also explain why they cannot die.
g. Fate will not allow any major changes to the course of time . . . this is why the women can’t have babies. If they somehow do, the price is their lives.
4. I think it is a combo of Sci-Fi Time Travel Story and a big ole Allegory.
5. The Hurley-Burley – Hugo immediately tells everyone that he does not want his money or anything bought with the money. He believes this will keep him safe. Too bad the speedometer of the reconstructed car doesn’t agree.
6. This week in Lost Literature: We revisit the Wizard of Oz; “There’s No Place Like Home.” This, of course, fits with the whole time travel/alternate reality idea.
7. Sawyer had some zingers last night; it was nice to see James back in the game. “Genghis” – Miles. “You don’t get to die alone.” – Jack.
8. EXPLOSIVES: Do you think Jin is going to be blown to bits? How is Sun going to get off that freighter with Aaron? Does this mean my Des is going to die? He better not! What about Michael? Does the whole not dying thing mean that if he explodes he will somehow regenerate? That would be cool. Who rigged up the boat to explode? Was it Michael?
9. THIS WEEK IN BIBLE STUDIES: Not too much this week – but an interesting biblical fact – Aaron was 123 when he died. 1-23.
10. BADASS OF THE WEEK: Sun for putting the smackdown on Daddy. She says, “Two people are responsible for my husband’s death, and you are one of them.” Who was the other?
11. THE I-CALLED-IT AWARD: Goes to Your Loyal Lost Loser. I said Jack knows that Aaron is his nephew. Do you think Ms. Littleton knows that Aaron is her grandson?
12. Ben’s best line: “John, I told you, I always have a plan.” Runner up: “That’s a 15 year old cracker.”
13. One of the gunmen w/ Keamy is Ishmael, who Ben told Sayid had killed Nadia.
14. BEST LINE OF THE NIGHT: “JESUS IS NOT A WEAPON” HA!
15. Who does Ben communicate with via reflection? Was it Richard? Is that why he surrounds Jack and Sawyer in the jungle? Where did all these Others come from? Could it be the future?
I stayed up way past my bedtime last night just for you, so I’m sure I a missing some stuff. Don’t hide in the jungle!

Cabin Fever
That was a tense episode! Poor Locke. His whole life spent being beaten down . . .
1. This was the first flashback in a while. The only other one was the parallel episode with Jin’s flashback and Sun’s flashforward. Do you think there is significance to these two characters being the only ones w/ flashbacks?
2. What we learn about Lil Locke:
* He was the smallest baby to survive at that hospital up until his birth.
* His mother, Emily, was having an affair with a man “twice her age.” Anthony Cooper/Tom Sawyer did not seem that much older than Locke’s mom when we met them last season. Is he really Locke’s father? Or could it be someone else?
*Richard Alpert is present at Locke’s birth. It seems the island has been waiting for him to be ready for his whole life.
*John draws a picture of Smokey as a little boy.
*Richard indicates that John has owned items before. Perhaps in a previous life? He is disappointed by Locke’s choice of the knife, but he doesn’t give up on him entirely . . .
* John chooses the vial of sand (island?), the compass, and the knife. He does not choose a mitt, The Book of Laws, the comic.
*John fights his destiny by rejecting the invitation to Science Camp at Mittelos Labaratories. He is beginning to question science.
*He has a Geronimo Jackson poster in his locker.
3. THIS WEEK IN LOST LITERATURE: This one is for Rob and Cyndi – Horace Goodspeed is living the Myth of Sissyphus. He is endlessly cutting down trees.
Great Line #1: “Someone’s been making all that ranch dressing that you like.” -- Locke to Hurley
5. On the boat --
--It would appear that Sayid and/or Des ratted out Michael to Martin Keamy.
--Michael cannot be killed, once again. Again I ask, how does the island decide who it wants to keep alive? What do these people have in common – Locke, Michael, Rose, Ben (?), Claire, Christian.
-- Keamy has a secret file that tells where Ben might be going. Is this a reference to moving the island?
-- Has Keamy made himself a human bomb?
-- They kill the doc who washed ashore previously. That means the island is in the future.
--Des will not leave the boat now that he thinks Penny is coming to get him.
-- Frank tries to avoid going back to the island because he doesn’t want any part of the torching. He gives in because of the crazy-ass Keamy killing people.
--Keamy is apparently on a mission the Capt knew nothing about.
6. THIS WEEK IN BIBLICAL STUDIES:
--When John is born, his mother cries out, “His name is John.” This is a direct reference to John the Baptist’s birth. Does this mean that John will be responsible for “baptizing” the savior of the island? Would that be Jack? Or maybe Sawyer?
7. In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle . . .
--Ben indicates that John is now taking his place as the protector of the island.
--John finds the cabin after digging through the bodies and finding the blueprints.
--When he enters the cabin, he finds not Jacob but (gasp here) Christian! And even more (bigger gasp) Claire! Christian informs him that:
--Aaron is where he needs to be (w/Sawyer)
--He needs to move the island. How will he do this?
--So why is Claire content to be w/ Christian? She seems like she might be hypnotized or something to me.
Do you think Christian is good? Do you think Christian is God?
9. Hurley’s magical powers – he can keep a candy bar in his pocket while running through the jungle, and it doesn’t melt.
10. Greatest line of the night: “Destiny is a Fickle Bitch.” Ben.
11. In a scene that we saw before, Locke is in physical rehab. His nurse explains that he needs to keep trying. Only this time, it is revealed that Matthew Abadon is that nurse. He believes in miracles. He went on a walkabout. He experiences a miracle. He tells Locke that when they meet again, “You’ll owe me.” Spooooooky!
12. Frank drops a sat phone on the beach. Jack thinks it means they should follow them. I think it is for them to be able to hide.
13. Horace was the guy that brought Ben and his dad to the island.
So, who is a bigger badass? Ben or Martin Reamy? Looking forward to your comments. The preview looked awesome, by the way.

Something Nice Back Home
Happy Friday!
While I did do a fair share of vomiting in my mouth last night from being exposed to way too much Kate, I thought it was a great episode, even though I think it may have raised more questions than answers (which I know some of you just love).
1. A little parenting advice for Kate – I don’t know about you, but I don’t spend nearly as much time as Kate does running around in my underwear. I mean, seriously, that boy is going to have some serious Oedipal problems if she doesn’t put some pants on soon!
2. Why Rose and Bernard Rule:
a. “Watch your tone, Red”
b. Rose raises the best question of the night – “Why is Jack sick? You don’t get sick here; you get well.” I have been wondering the same thing for months – why did Ben get sick? Why do some people die and some don’t?
c. Bernard has mad-dentist skills – he can put a man out like nobody’s business.
3. Timeline clarification – Jack’s previous flashforwards (including the finale of last season) have been taking place, for the most part, AFTER tonight’s episode. When he meets Kate at the airport, they have broken up.
4. Where did Kate get all that money?
5. For Evan – my vote for Chuck Norris badass award: a tie – Jin and Sawyer. Jin with his threat to break all of Daniel’s fingers, Jin with his “I’m the guy who’s gonna put a boot in your face” threat to Miles if he doesn’t observe the “restraining order.”
6. Speaking of Sawyer – he is sooo falling for Claire. Too bad she’s gonna die any minute now.
7. THIS WEEK IN LOST LITERATURE: Alice in Wonderland. We’ve encountered this before, especially in “Through the Looking Glass.” Jack reads a key passage – “Who in the world am I? That’s the great puzzle.” And isn’t that what everyone is really discovering on the island?
8. Hurley Time: Poor, poor Hugo! He believes that he is really dead; that all the Oceanic 6 are really dead. What do you think?
9. A message from Charlie: “You’re not supposed to raise him, Jack.” “Someone’s gonna visit you, too.” Why isn’t Jack supposed to raise Aaron? Is Kate? The husband had a good theory – SAWYER is supposed to raise Aaron (as he is the one who finds him). What do you think?
10. Speaking of Aaron – THIS WEEK IN BIBLE STUDIES: Let’s revisit Aaron. Aaron is the brother of MOSES. He is the one who gave in to the people and started worshipping the Golden Calf, the sin of idolatry. Perhaps this is why it is so important that the right person raise him. Here’s my thought – Jack has made himself a martyr. Throughout the episode, he keeps talking about how he “Saved” or is going to “save” everyone. Perhaps he is the false idol? Perhaps that is why Aaron cannot be raised by him.
11. Why didn’t Smoky kill the soldiers from last week?
12. What is Kate doing for Sawyer? Why does Jack give a poo? It’s not like he is there. Could she be finding his daughter for him? Also very important, Sawyer CHOSE to stay on the island.
13. Jack seems to know that he is Aaron’s uncle, don’t you think?
14. HOLY CRAP MOMENT: Claire wakes up to find Christian holding Aaron. She calls him “Dad.” Which is odd, since she hated him and only discovered he was her father right before he died.
15. Is Christian supposed to be God?
16. Miles can hear the murder of Danielle and Carl. He also reveals that he “didn’t sign up for this.” Miles and Lapidus seem to be caught unknowingly caught up in something (love Lapidus!), while Daniel and Charlotte seem in on the whole thing.
17. Best line of the night: Miles – “I would have followed them, but I have a restraining order.”
Gotta get back to planning prom . . . yes, you read that right.

The Shape of Things to Come
Have you missed me? I have to say that El Donk and I were feeling a little abandoned after the last episode. Don’t make us go Benjamin-Linus on your arses this week!
So what is the “Shape of Things to Come”?:
1. THROWING UP IN MY MOUTH MOMENT: Why in the world did they open the episode with a semi-strip tease by Kate? Seriously, the bile in my mouth didn’t go away until the episode was almost over.
2. On the Beach:
-- Vincent returns! (and so did Smokey . . . coincidence? I think not!)
-- Jack is popping painkillers and lying about it . . . antibiotics my ass!
-- Dead Guy discovered by Bernard (who is so much smarter than he gets credit for) and Vincent is the doctor from the boat . . . more on this later.
3. You sunk my battleship! -- Hurley, Sawyer, Locke, and Aaron are involved in a mad game of Battleship. Hurley states, “We’re all gonna die.” Should we read something into that?
*****”Australia is the key to the whole game!”
4. At the Barracks:
-- How dumb are these people? They all come running out one after another when they hear gunshots. Seriously – who does that?
-- Miles rings the doorbell. Classic.
-- Martin Christopher Keamy leads the invasion to capture Ben. He is also the captain of the boat. We learn he is a mercenary who did some bad stuff in Uganda.
5. Why is Hurley the only one who knows how to find Jacob? And is THIS what he was referring to when he told Jack in the future, “I shouldn’t have gone with Locke”? I ask because . . .
6. I think Claire is going to get killed soon.
7. Speaking of Claire, do you think James (aka Sawyer) is developing a thing for her? He kept calling her “sweetheart.”
8. HOLY CRAP MOMENT #1: Keamy shoots Alex. “He changed the rules.”
9. Ben can control Smokey somehow. We watched Smokey over and over, and we could make out some vague faces and shapes that looked like they might be Polar Bears. Anyone see anything else?
10. Flashforward:
--Ben can clearly control his ability to Jump back and forth in time.
-- He first goes to Tunisia where he delivers one of the great lines of the night after shooting one of the Bedouins: “Oh, so you do speak English.” Ha!
n His next stop is Tunisia, where he checks in as Dean Moriarty (see this week in Lost Literature). It is 10/21/2005. He sees Sayid on a television report. He sees an opportunity . . .
n To go to Tikrit and trick Sayid into becoming his very own mercenary
11. Sayid:
-- Found and married Nadia. They were living in LA when she was killed.
-- Apparently his little tryst with Shannon didn’t mean much.
-- His grief “becomes anger and never goes away,” just as Ben tells him it will.
-- So now we know why he works for Ben
12. THIS WEEK IN BIBLICAL STUDIES:
-- The man who Ben claims killed Nadia is named Ismael:
Ishmael is also a biblical name. He was Abraham's first son, who was born not of his wife, but of her servant, whom he had also married. Ishmael's half-brother was Issac, who was the father of Jacob.
-- And even more interesting:
Both Jewish and Islamic traditions consider Ishmael as the ancestor of Arab people. [1]
Judaism has generally viewed Ishmael as wicked though repentant.[1] Judaism maintains that Isaac (the father of the Jewish people) rather than Ishmael was the true heir of Abraham.[3] The New Testament contains few references to Ishmael. Biblically, Ishmael is used to symbolize the older - now rejected - Judaic tradition; Isaac symbolizes the new tradition of Christianity.[1] Islamic tradition, however, has a very positive view of Ishmael, giving him a larger and more significant role. The Qur'an views him as a prophet. According to the interpretation of some early theologians whose view prevailed later, Ishmael was the actual son that Abraham was called on to sacrifice, as opposed to Isaac.[1][4]
We’re entering a whole new realm here . . . Sayid has now “killed” his own belief system.
13. My boy Bernard: He reveals the truth of the Morse code message . . . and therefore forces Ferraday to admit that there was never any intention of getting the Losties off the Island.

-- Desmond is never gonna find Penelope; his Odyssey will go on forever . . .
15. Ben’s final jump – Widmore’s penthouse suite in London. Some interesting things are revealed:
-- Widmore is frickin hilarious: “You stand there with those horrible eyes of yours”
-- Widmore can’t be killed . . . but Penelope can.
-- Widmore also says, “Everything you have, you took from me.” What does this mean?!
16. WHAT IS GOING ON WITH LOCKE? THEY BETTER EXPLAIN HIS LAMENESS PRETTY SOON!

-- Widmore is frickin hilarious: “You stand there with those horrible eyes of yours”
-- Widmore can’t be killed . . . but Penelope can.
-- Widmore also says, “Everything you have, you took from me.” What does this mean?!
